The story behind Second Verse Vintage

These were my grandmother’s things.

Or maybe they once belonged to someone else’s grandma, dad or great uncle, beloved community member, local doctor, store owner, baker or seamstress.

Maybe their previous owner has passed on, and those things are sitting, abandoned, in an empty house or attic, without a song to sing. Because there is no one to hear them.

Maybe the previous owner just got tired of them, and now they have been exiled to a thrift store, with other pieces that are singing a different tune.

I find vintage treasures to pass along, giving them a chance to sing their SECOND VERSE as beautiful decor pieces in their new home. I also design and make handmade decorative accents to fill in the gap when vintage isn’t readily available and mass produced just won’t do.

My name is Deanna and that’s where I come in.

It hurts my heart to see some of these neat old pieces homeless, cast aside and auction-bound.

Sometimes it’s because no one consideres them stylish or useful as a piece of home decor. I mean, what do you do with an old shoe shine brush? Seriously?! Hardly anyone wears dress shoes anymore, much less takes the time to shine them. These days, you just buy a new pair - am I right?

Worst of all, the shabbiest ones are destined to become part of a land fill because no one thinks that rickety table or pictureless frame is worth saving. I, however, think it is.

I love shopping, picking, finding, and creating. I’m currently a retail manager, and right now this is my side hustle. I’m getting closer and closer to retirement age, and I’m working on growing this into a full-time business that won’t really feel like a job at all. For me, being creative, whether it be putting beautiful old things on repeat together as is or taking the outdated and rewriting the lyrics, is more like therapy to me. Except it’s arguably cheaper, and a lot more fun!

Those who know me know that music is LIFE! And life is a song, waiting to be sung. My mission is to take these old wonderful treasures and castoffs alike, and give them a chance (after a long pause) to sing their second verse in this song of life. I rehome, restore, recombine and repurpose things (sometimes in unexpected ways).   Let me show you how to let some of these great old things sing again in your home.
